WHEN YOU PRAY- RUTH BOYCE

Luke 10:19, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Many in the church attribute this verse to our physical bodies and we expect nothing to harm us.

We pray for God’s hand of protection on our lives. We trust that when we pray God’s angels are watching over us and protecting us from all evil because in this verse we see we have power over the forces of evil.

We see that the apostle Paul was bit by a poisonous snake after his ship wreck and was expected to die but he shook the snake from his hand and lived by the power of Jesus.

We see verses like Mark 16:18, they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them. We believe in our hearts, through the power of almighty God we will be protected in our bodies from attacks from the enemy, but when we are attacked and our very lives are threatened, and our bodies are given over to death, we sometimes wonder where is our God?

When the enemy comes in and harms our physical bodies through evil plans brought on by his network of demons, even unto death, we should never fear! Not when you are following ALMIGHTY GOD!

When you are in the place of obedience with God and His hand of protection guides you. Do not fear, for God says, I have overcome the world, John 16:33.

God never said we would have an absence of trouble in this world! He never promised that our bodies would not see death! He never said that we would go unharmed and not see physical trouble come against us.

What I want you to know is Jesus has overcome death in His own body so we do not need to be afraid of what mere mortals can do to our own bodies, Psalm 118:6.

Matthew 10:28, God tells us not to be afraid of those who can kill the body but rather fear him who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell.

The apostle Paul himself speaks of all the troubles he himself has physically gone through in 2 Corinthians. He tells us he has been put in prison, flogged severely, stoned to death, ship wrecked, beaten with rods, in danger from bandits, and in danger from false believers. His very life was taken from him but the disciples gathered around him and prayed for him and life entered into him again.

God says we must pick up our cross and die to ourselves daily and follow him.

Our lives belong to him! No power of darkness can touch us in Jesus name! No power of darkness can do any more than take your life. They cannot stop the word of God. When God wants the word to go forth, it will go forth. When God calls you, DON’T BE AFRAID of losing your life, be afraid of not walking with Jesus.

Praise the name of ALMIGHTY GOD for his power and his mercy are still available to you and I today!
