Today’s scripture is taken from 1 John 4:4-6 NIV. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
Because you and I belong to God, we have overcome and have even learned to recognize the agents of the devil and in this case the verse is speaking about the anti-christ. Remember what the word then says…. Because he that is in you in GREATER than he who is in the world (Satan). The very one who gives power to the anti-christ spirit. These agents have a warped mindset and do not understand the things of the spirit because the things of the spirit are like trying to mix oil and water. These things were not made to go together. These people who are under the influence of the anti-christ, have twisted doctrine and they do not see with open eyes for they are of the world and have the mindset or viewpoint of the world. We who have God are of the Holy Spirit and are taught and led by the Holy Spirit, so ANYONE who has a relationship with God and knows him, will listen to us for our hearts are together as one faith. Their eyes are open and they have a very teachable spirit. So the spirit of truth is motivated by God and the spirit of error is motivated by Satan. The Bible speaks very plainly about keeping the soil of your heart plowed and watered and ready to take seed. We MUST at all times keep our heart teachable so we can continue to grow in Christ and remain humble before the Lord.
Mark 4:25 AMP, For whoever has [a teachable heart], to him more [understanding] will be given; and whoever does not have [a yearning for truth], even what he has will be taken away from him.”
I like how this AMPLIFIED version says that we must have a YEARNING for the truth! Yearning is have a VERY STRONG (INTENSE) longing for something!
People of God, we can distinguish the spirit of God from the spirit of the devil (anti-christ) and learn to stand separate and with God. We are children of the living God, let us continue to long for and seek out the things of God with a spirit of humility. Then we will all grow in the things of God and make a difference wherever we go.
