He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” — Luke 11:28
Obedience is such a challenging word for the church today. God has called us all to have an obedient heart fully submitted and yielded to him in everything. The verse that says, thou shalt love the lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, mind and body is referring to our 100% complete and total surrender of obedience to God.
Many people in the church today think that if they work very hard for the things of God, then God will be pleased and this is the obedience that God has called for. But my friends, this is not obedience either. The Bible tells us that Obedience is better than sacrifice. (1 Samuel 15:22)
Obedience is even more than the act of doing work for Jesus. The idea of obedience brings with it a total and complete submission to the will of God and not our ideas. Jesus said when speaking about why he came to this earth…… Not my will but yours be done. This is a prayer that Jesus taught His disciples.
Obedience brings an absolute laying down of our thoughts and opinions, where our flesh cannot rise up and take control because our will has been put down.
Peter, the disciple of Jesus was fishing all day and caught nothing. He was discouraged but Jesus speaks to Peter: “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch” (Luke 5:4) Peter looks at Jesus who was a young man of only 30 and was not even a fisherman but a carpenter and tells him, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets” (Luke 5:5). Because of Peter’s obedience he let down his nets as the master had spoken and he was blessed by bringing in not 1 but 2 boatloads of fish.
Obedience brings with it favor, answered prayer, relationship with God and abundance poured into our laps.
The Bible says, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.
My friends, search your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to remove any stubborn parts of your heart so you will walk in complete obedience to God. We are growing from Glory to glory!
Psalms 139:23-24 NIV
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Love you all.
