Matthew 18:20 KJV
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
I love this verse because it is another promise from our father in heaven. This verse tells us plainly that when we are under attack or having trouble in the spirit or even the physical. When we just need to call on the power of the Almighty God to help us to prevail in our situation; we can get together with two or three people and we can be ASSURED of the presence of the Lord in our midst. It is so important to read and understand the word of God accurately. The Bible says “RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD.” 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV, Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. People of God, we are representing the King of Kings, the Lord of Lord’s! The Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the end. We need to do our best as leaders in His church to rightly divide the word of truth because the very words we say, will help or hinder someone else to get into heaven.
I know of a very PROMINENT and WELL KNOWN pastor in America who miss quoted the verse at the top and although we are all guilty of doing this from time to time because in the Lord our discernment is not where it needs to be, we are responsible. The verse tells us that where two or three are gathered together IN MY NAME, there am I in the midst of them. He said that I am one and Jesus is one therefore that is two. And God said two or more gathered together in my name …but people of God, if you go back and look at the verse before this one, it says….Matthew 18:19 KJV
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Look at the key words to help us understand what must be done. It says…..again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree ON EARTH as touching anything that they shall ask…. It shall be done for them of my father in heaven.
Wow, the promise is such a great one but the key is that we need to come together as two or three ON THE EARTH 🌎 and then it says …. Whatever we ask it will be granted by our Father in heaven. WOW, WE HAVE A GREAT FATHER but we must follow his ways and principles of the kingdom and we shall be blessed and our families shall be blessed.
