WHAT HAPPENS IF I LET THE SUN GO DOWN WHILE STILL ANGRY?

We read that we as Christians must not argue and we must not get angry with others. We are encouraged by our Father in heaven through all these things, not because he doesn’t expect that we will get angry. Even the word says, be angry and sin not.

Our Father is teaching us these good behaviors and disciplines to keep us from further trouble in our lives. The Bible tells us to not let the sun go down on our wrath, our anger that we have towards someone else. He is saying that is for a couple reasons. The devil prowls around seeking whom he may devour and he stands before the judgement seat of Christ and accuses the brethren: when we go to bed at night time the devil’s highest activity of his day is between the hours of 2 am and 3 am. If you are sleeping and the devil stands before the Lord to accuse you of your sin after you went to bed and did not take care of your problem, then you could wind up with a demon by morning that has full right to be there because you opened the door and did not close it before bed. Also, what if the Lord came back for his church while you were sleeping? You don’t want to miss your opportunity for heaven because of anger.

This passage below is so very good because it shows how our life is not to be lived in the natural but we must always be living in the spiritual and thinking about others over our own needs. We are told not to grieve the Holy Spirit but to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling and slander along with every form of malice. It says to, “Get rid of,” therefore, it is possible; and not just possible, but we have power and authority to remove these things from our lives. It is showing by these words that we have a RESPONSIBILITY to remove them from our lives so we get along with others better and we don’t grieve the spirit of God. Everything about this set of verses is about being kind to one another and not allowing our flesh to rise up against one another.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
